Three hospitalized, one with second-degree burns after Germantown townhouse fire

Three people were transported to local hospitals following a kitchen fire at a Germantown townhouse early Friday morning, according to Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service (MCFRS) officials.

In a post on X Friday morning, MCFRS Assistant Chief David Pazos said crews were dispatched shortly after 6 a.m. to the 11800 block of Regents Park Drive for the report of a building fire.

Firefighters arrived to find a kitchen fire inside a two-story townhouse and all four occupants safely outside the home.

According to Pazos, three occupants were transported from the scene to local hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries related to the fire.

Radio transmissions from the incident indicated one of the patients, a 21-year-old man, was injured after attempting to remove a burning pot from the stove and carry it outside.

The man suffered second-degree burns to less than 5% of his body, primarily affecting his hands and fingers, according to radio communications between first responders and MedStar Washington Hospital Center.

The cause of the fire has not been released.

Bethesda Today reached out to Pazos for additional information and comment but had not received a response as of Friday afternoon.
