After a life of pain and trips to the emergency room, Jessica Ceja, 41, a mother of three living in Silver Spring, has started a promising new gene therapy for sickle cell disease – the first to do so in Maryland. Glen Echo theater company secures $250K for needed renovations
Adventure Theatre MTC, a Glen Echo-based theater company, is set to receive $250,000 in legislative bond funding to renovate and modernize its theater and lobby spaces at its facility in Glen Echo Park. State Del. Sarah Wolek and Sen. Sara Love helped secure the funding that will go toward upgrading restrooms, lighting and sound systems as well as seat upholstery. [Broadway World]
Fire damages White Oak Jiffy Lube store early Wednesday
Around 2:15 a.m., Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service crews responded to the 3200 block of Automobile Boulevard in White Oak for the report of a fire at the Jiffy Lube auto store. The blaze spread to the building’s roof, causing more than $220,000 in damage. [DC News Now]
