Montgomery County police identified 20-year-old Jacob James Hale of Rockville as the man who died early Sunday when the motorcycle he was riding on made contact with another motorcycle on Norbeck Road, the department announced Tuesday in a press release.
Hale was riding a black 2007 Honda CBR600 motorcycle westbound on Norbeck Road in Rockville around 1:15 a.m. when his motorcycle made contact with a black 2006 Honda CBR600 near the intersection with Hannans Way, according to police. Both drivers, who had been traveling together, then lost control of their motorcycles and crashed.
Hale hit a curb and traffic sign support and was pronounced dead on the scene, according to police. The rider of the second motorcycle was not injured in the collision and remained at the scene, according to police.
This part of Norbeck Road, near the intersection of Muncaster Mill Road, is in a “Speed Camera Corridor,” with a speed limit of 35 mph.

The collision was among several fatal crashes that have occurred during past few days in the county. A woman in Rockville died Monday evening after her car struck a cable barricade within a parking garage entrance area in Rockville, and another woman was killed Friday after being struck in a hit-and-run collision in the 10500 block of Colesville Road in Silver Spring.
The police department’s Collision Reconstruction Unit is investigating the motorcycle collision. Police ask anyone with information about the crash to contact the unit at 240-773-6620.
