Montgomery County police have identified Thuong Luu Thai of Silver Spring as the 83-year-old woman who died after she was struck by a car Thursday afternoon in Rockville, the department said Monday morning in a press release.

The collision occurred around 3:40 p.m. in the 600 block of North Horners Lane at Southlawn Lane, police said in the release. Rockville City police and Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service (MCFRS) crews responded shortly after for the report of a pedestrian struck.

Upon arrival, responding officers found a woman, later identified as Thai, suffering from serious injuries in the road, according to police.

Thai was transported to Suburban Hospital in Bethesda, where she later died, according to police and MCFRS transmissions from Thursday afternoon.

Before the collision, the driver of a black 2011 Acura RDX was traveling northbound on North Horners Lane when Thai was struck, county police said. The collision was near the intersection with Southlawn Lane, police said.

The driver of the Acura remained at the scene after the collision and is cooperating with the investigation underway by the department’s Collision Reconstruction Unit, police said.

Police noted Monday that Thai’s “path of travel” before the collision remains under investigation. Detectives determined there were no signs of impairment.

Police ask anyone with information about the collision to contact the Collision Reconstruction Unit at crunit@montgomerycountymd.gov or 240-773-6620.
