Montgomery County police on Monday identified the Silver Spring man who died early Sunday in a single-vehicle collision on Georgia Avenue in Glenmont.

At approximately 1:17 a.m., officers and Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service (MCFRS) crews responded to the area of Georgia Avenue near Randolph Road for the report of a single-vehicle, rollover collision, police said in a press release Monday.

Responding officers found the driver, 33-year-old Cristhian Francisco Trejo Portillo, trapped in the vehicle and unresponsive. He was extricated, but died at the scene, police said.

A preliminary investigation found that Trejo Portillo was heading north on Georgia Avenue in a tan 2011 Cadillac Escalade when he left the roadway and struck the curb, a concrete retaining wall and a wooden utility pole. The vehicle “came to a rest” upside down in the roadway, police said.

Police said an investigation of the crash may take “several weeks or months to complete.” Anyone with information about the collision is asked to contact the department’s Collision Reconstruction Unit at 240-773-6620.
