Montgomery County police have identified Abdul Kaium Mohammad Hakim as the man who died Friday after a collision in the parking lot of a Germantown townhome community, the department said Monday in a news release.
Hakim, 72, of Germantown, was struck by a black 2012 Toyota Camry driven by a family member and died later at a local hospital, police said. The collision occurred around 12:30 p.m. in the parking lot of a townhome community at 11600 Drumcastle Terrace.
Initial police reports after the collision said that Hakim was 75 years old and that the incident occurred in a driveway, details that have since been updated. The collision was the second fatal collision involving a vehicle in the county Friday. A 59-year-old man died after his vehicle collided with a Ride On Bus in Gaithersburg early Friday morning.
Around 12:35 p.m., police responded to the Germantown parking lot for the report of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle, according to the release. First responders found Hakim suffering from life-threatening injuries at the scene, and he was subsequently transported to a local hospital, where he died.

An investigation of the collision found that Hakim was entering the Camry being driven by a family member when the vehicle reversed and caused him to fall, police said in the release. After falling, Hakim was struck by the vehicle.
According to police, the driver remained at the scene following the collision and is cooperating with investigators.
Police did not say whether charges may be pending or if the collision appeared to be accidental.
County police are investigating the collision, a process that can take up to several months to complete, according to the department. Police are asking anyone with information about the collision to contact the department’s Collision Reconstruction Unit at 240-773-6620.
