Pedestrian dies in hit-and-run collision on Colesville Road in Silver Spring

A woman died after she was struck Friday afternoon by a driver on Colesville Road in Silver Spring, Montgomery County police said in a social media post.
County police said they are investigating the incident as a fatal hit-and-run. The incident occurred between the Four Corners intersection of University Boulevard and Colesville Road and the Burnt Mills shopping center.
Officers and Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service crews were dispatched just before 1:15 p.m. to the 10500 block of Colesville Road for the report of a pedestrian struck, according to police.
UPDATE: The adult female pedestrian struck during the hit-and-run collision in the 10500 block of Colesville Road has died.

First responders found a woman in the road in “critical condition,” the department said in the post. The driver of the striking vehicle was not at the scene.

Around 2:20 p.m., police announced in a separate statement on social media that the woman had died. The post did not identify the woman.
Police also said in the post that there was no information available about the driver.
Drivers in the area are advised to seek an alternative route.
