Two men who were convicted in the November 2022 MS-13-related murder of Edvin Agustin Leon, 20, at a park in Silver Spring, are now facing years of prison time. On June 17, 32-year-old Carlo Yaque del Cid was sentenced to two consecutive life sentences plus five years related to the murder case. The next day, Sender Gody-Lemus, 22, was convicted on first-degree murder charges. The men are two out of five defendants in the case. [Fox 5]
MoCo residents plead with officials to stop solar farm projects in Potomac, Germantown
Solar farm projects being developed or proposed for construction near existing homes in Potomac and Germantown have residents up in arms and pleading with state and federal officials to halt the projects. Residents are concerned the farms may negatively impact the surrounding environment, cause fires and reduce their quality of life. [DC News Now]
MoCo transportation department to host public hearings on Purple Line sidewalk plans on Thursday
Plans for sidewalks and accessibility improvements around the future Manchester Place Purple Line station will be the topic of a virtual public hearing hosted by the Montgomery County Department of Transportation on Thursday evening. The meeting, which will be open to the public, is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. via Zoom. Registration is required to attend. [Source of the Spring]
