    Montgomery County police are on the scene of an officer-involved shooting in Gaithersburg, the department said in a post on social media Sunday night.  

    Police said the shooting occurred in the 9600 block of Lost Knife Road, near the Lakeforest Transit Center and the Montgomery Village Plaza shopping center. Police tape can be seen in front of several area businesses, including Pho & Grill, Little Caesars and Crisp & Juicy. 

    As of around 10:30 p.m., limited information about the shooting was available and county police were consulting with the Maryland Office of the Attorney General. The department said a press conference will be held “after further information is obtained.” 

    Sunday’s incident marks the second officer-involved shooting in the area this year.

    In March, a county police officer shot 27-year-old Andre Duvall of Germantown at the Cider Mill apartment complex on Lost Knife Circle after he fired at least two shots in their direction, body camera footage shows. Duvall is charged with attempted murder in connection with the shooting.
