Water liable for expenses related to the investigation, cleanup, restoration and treatment of sewage released into the Potomac River in a spill earlier this year. Van Hollen delivers $750K to North Bethesda’s ‘So What Else?’
U.S. Sen. Chris Van Hollen on Saturday delivered an oversized $750,000 check to North Bethesda-based food distribution bank So What Else? in honor of the organization’s sixth anniversary. Other officials including state Sen. Jeff Waldstreicher (D-Dist. 18) and County Councilmember Kate Stewart (D-Dist. 4) also attended the event. [Montgomery Community Media]
Furnace malfunction sparks house fire in Kemp Mill
One person was displaced after a furnace malfunction sparked a house fire in Wheaton’s Kemp Mill neighborhood on Sunday. According to the Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service, the furnace had recently undergone maintenance and had only been in use for 40 minutes before the blaze started. [DC News Now]
