A man was injured in a shooting in Gaithersburg on Tuesday afternoon, Montgomery County police said in a post on social media.
At approximately 12:46 p.m., officers from the Gaithersburg and Montgomery County police departments along with Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service (MCFRS) crews responded to the 700 block of Saybrooke Oaks Blvd. for a report of a shooting.

County police said the officers located an adult male with “unknown injuries.” The Gaithersburg Police Department is leading the investigation, according to country police, and no suspect had been located just after 1 p.m.
According to MCFRS radio transmissions, the man was found in the parking lot adjacent to the Saybrooke Pool. He was shot in the lower leg, and police applied a tourniquet while declaring the scene safe for emergency medical services.

MCFRS radio transmissions indicate the shooting victim, 18, was taken by ambulance to INOVA Fairfax Hospital for treatment. He was classified as priority 2, meaning his injury was less serious but still potentially life-threatening, according to state protocols.
The shooting in Gaithersburg was at least the second in Montgomery County on Tuesday. At approximately 10:50 a.m., two males were taken to a hospital with serious injuries after a shooting in Clarksburg.
