Man fatally shot in Darnestown

Police say death is being investigated as homicide; no suspect in custody as of Thursday morning

A man was fatally shot in a Darnestown neighborhood Thursday morning, Montgomery County police said in a statement on social media.

At approximately 5:55 a.m., police were dispatched to the 12000 block of Carrington Hill Drive for a report of a shooting. Upon arriving, they found a man who was seriously injured. Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service (MCFRS) spokesperson Pete Piringer described the man’s injuries as life-threatening in a separate social media post Thursday.

The man, who has not been publicly identified, was taken to an area hospital for treatment. As of around 10:30 a.m., police said the man had been pronounced dead.

The shooting is being investigated as a homicide, according to police. No suspect was in custody as of late Thursday morning.
