A large water main break on Wootton Parkway in Rockville has led to the closure of several roads and dismissal of classes at Thomas S. Wootton High School on Friday, according to Montgomery County police.

On Friday, police said on social media the water main break occurred on the 2100 block of Wootton Parkway. Thomas S. Wootton High is at 2100 Wootton Parkway. Police didn’t specify which roads in the area are closed and referred the community to Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) for school dismissal information.

Police are asking community members to avoid travel in the area while crews address the break. MCPS spokesperson Liliana Lopez didn’t immediately respond Friday morning to emailed questions about the dismissal and the impact of the break on the school.

This story will be updated as more information becomes available.
