Justice Department says flawed installation, not Bethesda man, to blame for Reflecting Pool damages

The Justice Department asked a judge on Friday to dismiss the case against David Hearn, a Bethesda resident and former Olympian who was accused of vandalizing the Reflecting Pool in Washington, D.C. The 20-page filing said that the installation was botched and that with “newly discovered information, it is difficult to attribute the widespread damage to the Reflecting Pool to vandalism.” [Associated Press]
