In October 2025, a new law went into effect in Montgomery County, switching speed camera violations from a flat fee to graduated fines. While the base fine of $40 for speeds between 12 and 15 mph over the speed limit did not change, now fines for going 16 mph or more over the limit are $70 (16 to 19 mph over), $120 (20 to 29 mph over), $230 (30 to 39 mph over) and $425 (40 mph or more over).
Which Montgomery County-maintained speed cameras issued the most violations? These were the top 10 in fiscal year 2024 (July 1, 2023, through June 30, 2024), the most recent time frame with available data. (Cities such as Gaithersburg and Rockville also maintain speed cameras—that data is not included.)
