Early voting for the 2026 gubernatorial primary election begins Thursday

The 2026 gubernatorial primary election is June 23, but Marylanders can begin casting their votes in person as early as Thursday.
The early voting period for the 2026 primary election begins Thursday and runs through June 18. Early voting centers will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily during that period, including on weekends.
Montgomery County residents can vote at any of the county’s 14 early voting centers regardless of their assigned Election Day polling place. Here is a list of early voting sites:
- Activity Center at Bohrer Park Social Hall, 506 S. Frederick Ave., Gaithersburg;
- Bauer Drive Community Recreation Center, 14625 Bauer Drive, Rockville;
- Damascus Community Recreation Center Social Hall, 25520 Oak Drive, Damascus;
- Germantown Community Recreation Center, 18905 Kingsview Road, Germantown;
- Isiah “Ike” Leggett Executive Office Building, 101 Monroe St., Rockville;
- Jane E. Lawton Community Recreation Center Social Hall, 4301 Willow Lane, Chevy Chase;
- Marilyn J. Praisner Community Recreation Center, 14906 Old Columbia Pike, Burtonsville;
- Mid-County Community Recreation Center Social Hall, 2004 Queensguard Road, Silver Spring;
- Nancy H. Dacek North Potomac Community Recreation Center, 13850 Travilah Road, Rockville;
- Potomac Community Recreation Center, 11315 Falls Road, Potomac;
- Sandy Spring Volunteer Fire Department, 17921 Brooke Road, Sandy Spring;
- Silver Spring Civic Building at Veterans Plaza, One Veterans Place, Silver Spring;
- Wheaton Library and Community Recreation Center, 11701 Georgia Ave., Wheaton; and
- White Oak Community Recreation Center, 1700 April Lane, Silver Spring.
The deadline to register in advance to vote was June 2, but people may still register in person at any of the county’s early voting centers during the early voting period.

Those who wish to register during early voting must show proof of residence, such as a driver’s license issued by the state Motor Vehicle Administration, an ID card or a change of address card.
A paycheck, bank statement, utility bill or other government document with your name and new address is also acceptable as proof of residence. People who register during early voting may be required to use a provisional ballot.
What’s on the ballot?
County offices on the ballot this year include county executive, all eleven seats on the County Council, four of eight seats on the Board of Education, sheriff, judge of the circuit court, state’s attorney, clerk of the circuit court and register of wills.
Statewide offices on the ballot include the governor and lieutenant governor, comptroller, attorney general, state delegate and state senate. Elections for the U.S. House of Representatives are also part of this primary election cycle.

Maryland has a closed primary system, meaning only registered Democrats and Republicans can vote in their party’s primaries. Unaffiliated voters can still receive a ballot to cast in non–partisan contests, including for the school board.
