Montgomery County police are searching for a 29-year-old Clarksburg woman suspected of killing her mother, who was found dead in her Silver Spring apartment last month, police said Thursday afternoon in a statement.

Vanessa Tjongarero-Henderson and her girlfriend, Samantha Raebel of Phoenix, Arizona, are charged with first-degree murder in connection with the death of 67-year-old Hilde Henderson of Silver Spring, according to the statement. Charging documents for the women were not available as of Thursday afternoon.

Shortly after 11 a.m. on May 26, officers responded to the Charter House in the 1300 block of Fenwick Lane for a welfare check, police said. Henderson was found dead when they arrived.

The statement did not say who initiated the welfare check, but police spokesperson Sheira Goff told Bethesda Today in a phone interview Thursday that it was not initiated by either of the suspects.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore conducted an autopsy and ruled Henderson’s death a homicide, according to police. Police declined to say how Henderson was killed.

Police ask anyone with information about the location of the two suspects to call 911. Anonymous tips can be submitted to the Crime Solvers of Montgomery County website at www.crimesolversmcmd.org or by calling 1-866-411-8477. Tips with information leading to an arrest may be eligible for a reward up to $10,000, according to police.
