Three adults are displaced following a Tuesday night fire that caused about $750,000 in damage to a Chevy Chase home, according to the Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service (MCFRS).
The fire broke out around 11 p.m. at the two-story, single-family home in the 4600 block of Drummond Avenue, MCFRS spokesperson Pete Piringer said Tuesday and Wednesday in social media posts.

According to Piringer, responding firefighters encountered flames on the rear deck that had extended to the home’s exterior and upper levels.
Smoke alarms in the home alerted the sleeping occupants, who were able to escape without the assistance of firefighters, Piringer said. No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, according to Piringer.
The estimated $750,000 in damage from the blaze includes destruction valued at $500,000 to the structure and $250,000 to items inside, Piringer said.
A photo of the home posted by Piringer on social media shows that most of the white siding on the rear home had been charred black by the fire.
This is the second house fire to occur in the Chevy Chase area within a week. On Saturday, a fire at a single-family home in the 7300 block of Delfield Street left three adults and a child displaced.
