After closing early Thursday due to extreme temperatures in classrooms, Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School in Bethesda is set to close at noon again Friday due to extreme heat in the building, according to Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) spokesperson Liliana Lopez.
Friday’s temperatures are expected to hit a high of 95 degrees with a humidity of 59%, according to The Weather Channel.
The decision to close the school earlier than the regularly scheduled dismissal time of 2:30 p.m. came after B-CC and Wootton High School also closed early on Thursday.
Wootton’s air conditioning was not working on Thursday due to a burst pipe, Lopez said. B-CC had air conditioning, but was closing because “some rooms are very hot,” she said. Wootton was remaining open Friday.
