When it comes to things to do each week, there’s no place quite like Montgomery County. The region is a hub for activities of all sorts, from art exhibits and theater to craft fairs, food festivals and inventive workshops. Yet with all the happenings across the area, it can be a challenge to figure out exactly which things to do. To get started, below are our top picks for the week, and here is an events calendar for things to do in March and April.
Wednesday through April 30: Voices & Visions of Arab Culture Exhibit
8 a.m. – 10 p.m. Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday
Activity Center at Bohrer Park, 506 S. Frederick Ave., Gaithersburg

Wednesday through Sept. 7: The Butterfly Experience
9 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Brookside Gardens, 1800 Glenallan Ave., Wheaton

For five months, Brookside Gardens will display live butterflies from Asia, Africa and the Americas in the South Conservatory House as part of the annual Butterfly Experience. Tickets cost $15.99, $10.99 for ages 3 to 12 and free for kids younger than 3. Each ticket allows a 20-minute walk through the butterfly exhibit.
Wednesday to Sunday: Family Day: History of Play
10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Josiah Henson Museum and Park, 11410 Old Georgetown Road, North Bethesda
Celebrate the playfulness of children throughout the centuries at the Josiah Henson Museum and Park. Entrance to the park and the History of Play activities is free. Museum admission costs $7, $6 for seniors and kids ages 6 to 17, free for age 5 and younger.

The Josiah Henson Museum and Park is also hosting an educational spring break for families while kids are out of school. Interactive activities and self-guided tours will be available during special hours both days. Admission to the museum costs $7, $6 for seniors and kids.

Thursday through Saturday: Spring Break for History at Woodlawn Manor Cultural Park
10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Woodlawn Manor Cultural Park, 16501 Norwood Road, Sandy Spring
Woodlawn Manor Cultural Park is offering special operating hours during spring break and a 10 a.m. guided hike on the Underground Railroad Experience Trail on Friday and Saturday. Admission costs $7, $6 for seniors and kids and free for age 5 and younger. Separate $5 tickets are required for the hike.
Thursday: Charlotte Hu, piano
7:30 p.m.
The Mansion at Strathmore, 10701 Rockville Pike, North Bethesda
Pianist Charlotte Hu plays classical music from Western women composers from the last three centuries in her performance Women Pioneers. Tickets cost $38.

Saturday: Easter Celebration
11 a.m. – 1 p.m.
The Collection, 5471 Wisconsin Ave., Chevy Chase
This free family-friendly festival features kids activities, sweet treats, an egg hunt and a visit from the Easter bunny. RSVP here.
Saturday: Cocktails and Canvas: Cherry Blossoms in DC
7 – 10 p.m.
VisArts, 155 Gibbs St., Rockville
In celebration of cherry blossom season in the Washington, D.C., area, VisArts is hosting a paint and sip class for adults. All materials, including a partially sketched canvas, are included, and an instructor will guide the process. Complimentary snacks and sodas will be available with wine and beer also available for purchase. Tickets cost $50.
