When it comes to things to do each week, there’s no place quite like Montgomery County. The region is a hub for activities of all sorts, from art exhibits and theater to craft fairs, food festivals and inventive workshops. Yet with all the happenings across the area, it can be a challenge to figure out exactly which things to do. To get started, below are our top picks for the week, and here is an events calendar for things to do in July and August.
Wednesday: Flyleaf with Lacey Sturm

Flyleaf with Lacey Sturm brings their 20th Anniversary Tour to The Fillmore Silver Spring. The all-ages show features supporting acts of Convictions and Tiny Ships. Their music set includes alternative metal, hard rockand Christian rock.

Round House Theater, 4545 East West Highway, Bethesda
Happenstance Theater presents this medieval-themed show at Round House Theatre. The production combines characters inspired by the tarot and the paintings of 15th-century Dutch artist Hieronymus Bosch, puppetry, and physical comedy to tell the story of a ship of fools adrift at sea after an apocalypse, trying to figure out: “What do we do now?”

An artisan market featuring handmade items from around the world is the highlight of this free event at Veterans Plaza in Silver Spring that also features international cuisine, cultural performances, a DJ and dancing.

In celebration of the centennial of Rockville’s Glenview Mansion, artists are invited inside the historic landmark to sketch, paint and create works inspired by the building’s architecture, interior and grounds. The event is free.
Sunday: The Steely Dan Sessions: Aja
7719 Wisconsin Ave., Bethesda
7:30 p.m.
Local musicians The Sidleys, Al Williams III and Eddie Montalvo perform Steely Dan’s lauded album Aja in its entirety as well as other Steely Dan classics and other popular songs of the time at the Bethesda Theater.
