    Celebrate LGBTQ+ Pride in the county with these 12 events happening throughout the month.

    Sunday: Takoma Pride 

    9 a.m. – 2 p.m. 
    Parade start: 201 Ethan Allen Ave., Takoma Park 
    Street Fair: 6929 Laurel Ave., Takoma Park 

    Kick off the day at 9 a.m. with poster making, then join or watch the Pride parade beginning at 10 a.m. Afterward, meander through the street fair for free face paintings, a selfie station, crafts, food for purchase and stalls hosted by organizations and advocacy groups. 

    Sunday: LGBTQIA+ Book Fair 

    2 – 5 p.m. 
    Rockville Memorial Library, 21 Maryland Ave., Rockville

    Queer literature is the focus of this book fair at the Rockville Memorial Library. Books for sale are by and about LGBTQ+ people. Three authors will be in attendance to sign and sell their books, and independent bookstores The Paper Heart Bookstore and Little District Books will be featured. It is free to attend. 

    Sunday: Rockville Pride 

    2 – 5 p.m. 
    Rockville Town Center Park at The Square, 131 Gibbs St., Rockville 

    The City of Rockville celebrates the LGBTQ+ community with a free, accessible and family-friendly Pride celebration at The Square.  

    June 11: Pride at Black Hill: Pride Lake Tour by Kayak 

    6:30 – 8 p.m. 
    Black Hill Discovery Center, 20926 Lake Ridge Drive, Boyds

    Contests & Events

    Paddle along Little Seneca Lake and watch wildlife with other LGBTQ+ community members. Boats, paddles and personal flotation devices are provided. Registration is required. Tickets cost $30. The event is for paddlers age 18 and older. 

    June 11: DC’s Different Drummers 

    7:30 p.m. 
    Bumper Car Pavilion, Glen Echo Park, 7300 MacArthur Blvd., Glen Echo 

    Glen Echo Park’s summer concert series begins with a celebration of Pride. DC’s Different Drummers, an LGBTQ+ jazz band, will perform during the free event. Some seating will be available, and attendees can bring their own. Snacks and drinks will be available for purchase at the Bumper Car Pavilion. Free parking is available. RSVPs are preferred but not required. 

    June 12: Juneteenth Celebration LIYT Nights & Drag Duels 

    6:30 – 10 p.m. 
    1 Veterans Plaza, Silver Spring 

    Celebrate Black culture through performances, drag, vendors and a live DJ. The evening will also feature free STI/HIV testing. Activities begin at 6:30 p.m., and the Semi-Finale of Drag Duels Season 5 begins at 8 p.m. It is free to attend.

    June 13: Pride Family Day 

    11 a.m. – 2 p.m. 
    Spanish Ballroom, 7300 MacArthur Blvd., Glen Echo 

    Check out the carousel and aquarium for free during Glen Echo Park’s Pride family day. Other activities include arts and crafts, a photo op, snacks and drinks and discounted tickets to the day’s performances by The Puppet Co. The event is free with free parking. RSVP is preferred but not required.  

    June 13: Poolesville Pride 

    4 – 8 p.m. 
    Locals Farm Market, 19929 Fisher Ave., Poolesville 

    Poolesville Pride features live performances, vendors and artists, live DJ sets, arts and crafts, animals and more. The event is free with $5 cash parking available.

    June 14: Chosen Family Garden Party 

    Noon – 4 p.m. 
    MoCo Pride Center, 4805 Edgemoor Lane, Bethesda 

    Celebrate with your chosen loved ones during an outdoor lunchtime gathering. Play games, eat lunch and receive free STI testing during the event. Register and view the menu to come at the link above. 

    June 18: Pride at Black Hill: Pride on the Pontoon 

    7 – 8:30 p.m. 
    Black Hill Discovery Center, 20926 Lake Ridge Drive, Boyds 

    Kick back on a pontoon boat and explore Little Seneca Lake with other members of the LGBTQ+ community. Tickets cost $8, and the event is intended for attendees age 18 and older. Register at the link above. 

    June 27: Drag Story Hour 

    10:30 – 11:30 a.m. 
    Aspen Hill Library, 4407 Aspen Hill Road, Rockville 

    Drag artists will read books to kids at the Aspen Hill Library, exploring the gender fluidity of childhood, and presenting queer role models. The free event is open to all ages. Registration is required and will open June 13. 

    June 28: Pride in the Plaza 

    Noon – 8 p.m. 
    Veterans Plaza, 1 Veterans Place, Silver Spring 

    The theme of is this year’s Pride on the Plaza, Montgomery County’s official Pride event, is “We Will Not Be Silenced! We Will Not Be Erased!” to portray the resilience of the LGBTQ+ community. There will be two stages with live performances and the live finale of Drag Duels Season 4, a Family Fun Zone, a marketplace, food available for purchase and wellness services. There will also be a Pride Mini Ball to celebrate ballroom culture. The event is free.
