Father’s Day is June 21, but with a little creativity, there are plenty of ways throughout the month to celebrate. Here are 12 to consider:
Party at Wheaton Regional Park
11 a.m.- 3 p.m. Saturday
2000 Shorefield Road, Wheaton
Wheaton Regional Park is hosting a “Party in the Park” with a full day of wellness activities for dads, children, and families. There will also be food, train tickets, and other items while supplies last. Free admission, but registration is required.

U.S. Open Qualifiers Watch Party at Woodmont Country Club
7 a.m.- 10 p.m. Monday
1201 Rockville Pike, Rockville
Know a dad who prefers life on the links? Woodmont Country Club is holding qualifiers for the U.S. Open on Monday, and the public is invited to watch. Known as the “longest day in golf,” play starts at 7 a.m. and will continue after dark. Admission is free, and food and drinks will be available for purchase on-site.
McGinty’s Public House World Cup Viewing
June 11 – July 19
911 Ellsworth Drive, Silver Spring
(All matches subject to broadcast coverage and kickoff time confirmation.)
If Dad bleeds red, white and blue, he will be in good company at McGinty’s Public House for its World Cup watch parties. The pub will have all of Team USA’s group stage matches, including a matchup vs. Paraguay on June 12 and against Australia on June 19. The World Cup menu (only available on match days) includes wing platters, Irish nachos, chicken tenders and fries, and beer buckets. The USA matches will also be on the screens at other restaurants around town including the Silver Branch Brewing Co. locations in Rockville and Silver Spring.

Father’s Day Bazaar
10 a.m. – 4 p.m. June 13
2425 Reedie Drive, Wheaton
The Caribbean Heritage Collective is holding its 4th Annual Father’s Day Bazaar featuring a fatherhood panel discussion, live music and gifts available for purchase. Admission is free.
Cavalcade of Streetcars
11 a.m.- 5 p.m. June 13
National Capital Trolley Museum, 1313 Bonifant Road, Colesville
Dads who love history and vehicles on tracks will want to attend the Cavalcade of Streetcars. There will be different lineups of streetcars and opportunities to ride them during the event. There will also be a presentation by railroad artist J. Craig Thorpe and a scavenger hunt. Admission Costs: $15.75, $13.75 for seniors and military, and $10.75 for ages 2 to 13.
MudFest
11 a.m. – 3 p.m. June 13
Woodstock Equestrian Park, 20207 Darnestown Road, Beallsville

Dads who don’t mind getting messy will want to take their kids to MudFest. Organized by Montgomery Parks, there will be giant mud pools and a mud slide, a mud volcano, and a mudpie making station. Participants are advised to wear an old T-shirt and bring inflatable tubes and goggles to enjoy the mud activities. Tickets can be purchased for $20 per car online in advance or on-site. On-site purchases are cash only.
The Potomac River Jazz Club Father’s Day Concert
2 p.m. June 14
Rosensteel Hall, 9707 Rosensteel Ave., Silver Spring
The Potomac River Jazz Club is hosting its annual Father’s Day Concert featuring the Seth Kibel Quintet and Flo Anito. Tickets are $20 for club members and $25 ($22.50 in advance) for general admission. Admission is free for youth and students with valid student IDs.
6:30 – 8:30 p.m. June 16
Black Hill Discovery Center, 20926 Lake Ridge Drive, Boyds
Whether you’re a first-timer or a seasoned professional, it’s always fun to drop a fishing line to see what’s biting. Poles will be provided or you can bring your own. All registrants 16 and older must have a current state fishing license to participate. Registration is required and admission costs $15.
Juneteenth Celebration at Olney Theatre Center
11 a.m. – 1 p.m. June 19
2001 Olney Sandy Spring Road, Olney
This event will be an afternoon of celebration of the diversity of Black culture. There will be a performance from Artivism, a music group founded by Howard University alums that holds weekly jam sessions and allows artists to freely express themselves. There will also be a presentation from Reynauld Smith from the Sandy Spring Slave Museum. Smith grew up in East Texas, where the Juneteenth holiday was first observed, and he’ll share the history of the holiday as well as personal stories he inherited about the early days of Juneteenth’s observance. Admission is free; no RSVP is required.
HIIT workout at lululemon
8:30 – 9:30 a.m. June 20
Lululemon Bethesda Row 4838 Bethesda Ave., Bethesda
Start your Father’s Day weekend with a high-intensity workout. The free workout will be led by Jason Vanterpool, a lululemon ambassador. RSVP suggested.
Patton Oswalt
8 p.m. June 20
The Music Center at Strathmore, 5301 Tuckerman Lane, North Bethesda
The longtime actor and comedian has a new hour of comedy that will be sure to produce laughter. Oswalt will be fresh off the premiere of his 11th comedy special, Tea and Scotch, which debuts on YouTube on June 9.
Ticket prices range from $39-$78.
Memphis Lightning
9 p.m. June 20
Hank Dietle’s Tavern, 11010 Rockville Pike, Rockville
If Dad is more of a rock ‘n’ roll guy, take him to see rock group Memphis Lightning. The father-son duo has toured around the country, and their performance style has been compared to that of rock ‘n’ roll legends David Bowie and Mick Jagger. Tickets cost $20.
